FAQ’s

What age groups do you have?
There are three age divisions for the Searching for a Star competition. ELEMENTARY (8 – 10 years),
MIDDLE (11 – 13 years), and SENIOR (14 – 18 years).  Three contestants from each age group will advance to the Finals for a chance to become the overall winner.

Who picks my music?
Each round of the competition will have a musical theme. Theme examples include Broadway, Classics, Fifties and Sixties Hits, Country, Songs of Faith and Comfort, and Performer’s Choice. Searching for a Star will choose which theme each round will be. Contestants will choose a song (within the theme) to perform; song choices must be approved by Searching for a Star Foundation.

What format do I need to bring my music in?
Contestants will need to bring instrumental tracks of the song they will be performing   or download music track  and email it to staradvisoryboard@verizon.net   More info will be given to contestants who make it pass the first round of auditions.

When and where are the contests held?
The competition will bet held throughout March and June. Visit our contest timeline to find out specific dates and times.

How long do the contests usually last?
Each round is usually 1 1/2 hours. The Finals are about 4 hours long.
