Searching for a Star 2012 Audition Information

The Searching for a Star Competition is an “open competition”.  This means all performers 8 years old through High School across North Texas are invited to come out and audition!

Audition dates an times:  Auditions are held on Saturdays April 28th, May 5th, and May 12th, 2012.  We will start at 12pm (noon) and continue until all performers audition.  Performers must be in line and signed up by 5pm  to audition on any one of  those days.  Because we anticipate a large number of participates auditions are on a first come first serve basis.

Singers across North Texas are invited to participate!  To audition come prepared to sing a complete song of your choosing.  The song can be sung a’ capella or with an instrumental track (NO LEAD VOCALS ON THE MUSIC TRACK).  It is best to be prepared to sing the whole song even though the judges may have you sing only a portion of the song… (Hint: most performers come with two (2) songs ready just in case the judge wants to hear more than one style from your performer).

Although this competition is very competitive aimed at building self-confidence,  we want it to be a fun experience for you and your child.. 

Audition/Competition Costs: The cost for auditioning is $10.  Audition results will be posted on May 14, 2012 on the SFAS website:  www.searchingforastar.org   After audition results, performers accepted into the competition will pay a $25 competition fee which is due on or before June 1, 2012   This competition fee is not refundable and is only required if the performer makes it into the competition.

The Competition: The competition will take place in June 2012.  There will be four elimination rounds plus the final competiti0n round.  After the elimination rounds nine (9) lucky and talented  performers,( three (3) contestants in each age category) will compete for (1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes)  Performers in each age category will receive cash awards and trophies.

SEMI-FINALS ~ June 14
FINALS!! ~ June 16, 2012

Prizes and Scholarship Awards: Three (3) 1st place prizes - $1000 performer + $500 for school fine arts programs.  Three (3) 2nd Place prizes $500 each and three (3) 3rd place prizes of $250 for performer.  A total of $6,750 for scholarships and prizes!
