Last night many of the stars and their teams told me that Disco Dance night was the best category yet!  I thought it was great too!  It was a fun category and it brought out the best in our performers.    It could have been the lights and the hard hitting speakers from that DJ Guy’s set-up that gave that extra spark!  It could have been the knowledge that the whole show was being captured by Joey Edwards’ crew (Edwards Digital Media) and Dave bottlinger snapping the shots that set our stars off, but what ever it was, I hope that it happens again this coming Thursday May 27 at the Semi Finals!

 

Last night,  the singers made me reminisce about times gone by when “The Hot Ice Unlimited Show Band” would take the stage and mesmerize a crowd.  If you  guys don’t know who “Hot Ice” was, it was  one of the hottest bands on the North Shore in the 70’s, and it was made up of my family!  The band consisted of my brother, Jerry Hunter, my sister Trece, Pam Belcher, Frankie Adams, Robert (Spanky) Garrett on Bass, all  lead by my cousin Jimmie Garrett one of the baddest left handed drummers of that day!

Like Hot Ice, last night the performers moved me with songs like…The Rhythm is gonna Get You, sung by Brittany Thomas and Last Dance, sung by Yaminah Lewis.  After hearing them sing we knew we knew that we were all in for  treat!   Not to be denied,  members of the elememntary group (8 – 10 yr. old) put on an excellent show too singing songs like ”Funky Town” (Alyssa Bottlinger) and “Get on your feet” (Olivia Sanborn).  They had the audience roaring in a show of support for their performances!  Our stars showed they were in this to win it! 

I was impressed with performances from Alex McConnell and Gaven Edmonds who came out to party as they stepped it up a notch!  I was also impressed with Skylar Addicks who turned  in her best performance of the season!  It was a magnificent evening!

Many of the performers were impressive as they dressed the part of the the era they were performing.  For the upcoming rounds I hope that all of the remaining performers consider dressing in character.
