Why Call it Maize Days?
Murphy’s history as a farming community made the choice of Maize Days easy. The community and surrounding areas’ crops were feed corn and cotton.
When Murphy recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, the community support for the event was outstanding. The citizens were eager for more festivities, and Murphy Maize Days was launched! Since its inception, attendance has grown and nearly doubled each year. Over 3,000 revelers attended in 2009; you don’t want to miss this year’s festivities!

The Corn Idol Karaoke Contest is just around the corner come out and join the fun!
There is nothing better that to hear a crowd roar in approval for their singer. I am so excited that the City Of Murphy has invited Ballard Street Music out for the 3rd year to host this fun event, and we are going to light up the stage!
Huge Karaoke Contest Coming to Murphy
September 10th, 2011It’s that time of year again! Murphy Maize Days is right around the corner and it is time to register for the Karaoke Corn Idol Contest. Collin County’s Largest Karaoke Competition! We know you signed up to participate last year and would love it if you entered again this year! Entry into the contest is totally free, but we are awarding trophies, medals and CASH PRIZES! All this to go along with Bragging Rights!!
