It’s down to the wire…. as of  right now there’s no clear leader in this year’s Searching for a Star competition.  On February 19th we had 53 performers audition for the 2011 Searching for a Star (SFAS) stage course,  and now 3 months and 3 weeks later there are 15 performers left standing!

It’s Twine Time
At the Semi finals 2 weeks ago several of our stars stepped up their game;  it was really exciting to hear them rise to the occasion.  This Friday nite June 10th our finalists will take the stage one last time this season to compete for the title of  “Searching for A Star over-all Winner 2011″!   Read the rest of this entry »

As Pastor Max opened the show we could feel the anticipation and excitement in the air.   It was a great night from the start; one by one the performers  took to the stage for the microphone check.  As each performer stepped up and sang a few bars I could see a  definite change in their self confidence from when I first saw them 3-1/2 months earlier.  On this night, they showed no fear, no stage fright, they came out ready to perform!

 I was pleased to see that these semi finalists had the support of their fellow stars; I was delighted to know that Bianca Lorén  and Meagan McLaughlin;  2 finalists from the 2010 competition,  came out to support the 2011 stars!  That’s what this organization is all about…friendship and bonding!    Read the rest of this entry »

2011 Senior Class!

Time to step it up!
It is time for the stars to step it up!  On May 13, 2011 (Friday the 13^th) I must say that I was not thrilled that the over-all performances of our stars were meager at best.  Certainly there were some bright moments as a few of our stars were able to hit the big notes, but many had trouble holding the attention of the crowd.  In order to move on from this round into the finals the stars must bring it!  Listen…playing it safe is not going to get you there, next Friday stars will have to give all that they have. 2011 SFAS Elementary Class

Round One in the History Books…..
The first round of the Searching for a Star competition got underway Friday night May 6 and it posted some great performances.  All of the groups had great individual performances, but I must say that the elementary group held its own against the older groups.  Can you believe it?   Our elementary group sang songs that brought back memories such as “Stop Dragging’ my Heart Around”, “After the Glitter Fades” and “Call Me” those songs took me way back!
