
First up was the 2008 SFAS winner, Taylor Beckham whose song “Like as Star” brought a hush over the large crowd. After singing Taylor and her parents took the stage where they were presented flowers and given accolades for the promotion of SFAS during the 2008 year. Taylor carried the torch well last season and through Tree Sound Studios and RMG Records in Atlanta she became the 2008 poster girl at the National Convention for the Girl Scouts of America!
In the senior class the finals produced stellar performances by the two top singers, D’Moreya Woods and Sarah Olson. At the end of the night out of a possible 34 points they were within .45 of a point of each other! Sarah scored her highest points singing Celine Dion’s version of “At Last” while D’Moreya scored highest on the founder’s choice song “I’m Yours” byJason Mraz.

Other notable performances in the Senior Division were delivered by: Cory Feuerbacher singing God with us, and Rachel Gatewood sang I Dreamed a Dream to take 1st Place in the Elementary Class!
In the Elementary Division, Clay Mobley took 2nd singing Michael Jackson’s Rock with you and Malley Morales took 3rd place with I Can See Clearly Now!
This year 6 performers received the platinum microphone award, they are: Jonmichael Garcia, Meagan McLaughlin, Jordan Green, Lindsey Hayden, Delaney Beckham and Brittney Thomas. Any of these performers could have easily performed in the finals! The platinum performances were capped off off with an exceptional performance by Brittney Thomas singing Whitney Houston’s I will Always Love you! The audience showed their approval by standing up and delivering a thunderous applause!
I would like to thank all of our 2009 SFAS performers and their parents. I recognize that you all worked exceptionally hard this year. I hope that you all grew from this experience! I look forward to seeing you all soon!
