On Friday night March 26, 2010 there was tension in the air as the Searching for a Star stage course and competition got underway.  “I could see excitement  and nervousnes on the stars  faces; never-the-less the performers resolved within themselves, that “the show must go on” said Rob Hunter– Founder of Searching for a Star.

 

 

The night was full of proud moments as we saw our newest  performers take the stage and deny stage fright a victory… that was cool!  Despite being nervous they showed us that they were there to become stars! 

 

Katie Schoenekase, one of our performers in the elementary category started the night off with the song “Cowboy Take Me Away”.    After the show I spoke with Katie and her mom, I asked Katie how it felt to be the first performer to be called to the stage;  “I was really nervous but was excited when my song was finished “ Katie said.  “The audience had a lot to do with the encouragement of our performers tonight” said Rob Hunter.  “The cheers from the crowd as each star was introduced,  and the thunderous applause at the end of each performance really helps the kids….they will all have stronger performances at the next show”, said Hunter.

All in all It was a fun night; we saw great performances from both new comers as well as performers from 2008 and 2009. We have a good group of kids and parents.  I think we are going to see some great performers emerge in 2010.

This stage course is just what the kids need to prepare for the competition rounds.  In prior years the singers would have 2 free shows then the elimination rounds would begin.  This year our stars will have 8 weeks of preparation, 5 weeks of live performances and 3 workshops.  This will help all of the performers  compete with more confidence in the competition rounds.

The next show will be on April 9, 2010.   Come on out and support the children as they sing “MOVIE SONGS 1930 – 2000″.  I guarantee that you will have a great time!
