Boots & BBQ Gala event is on March 24th – 2012!On 2012 Boots & BBQ Annual Gala, sponsored by the Wylie Education Foundation is a huge annual event with a very worthy purpose. The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is governed by a Board of Directors representing a cross-section of citizens who are dedicated to education and share a vision for excellence in our schools. The Foundation was created to promote quality education and enhance the education of all students in the Wylie Independent School District.
The purpose of the Foundation is to solicit, manage, and distribute funds for enrichment purposes in program areas not otherwise funded by the District. Funding is supplemental and does not replace or alter use of tax-based revenue. Donations to the Foundation are received from individuals, corporations and other foundations to fund educational programs and projects and to create an endowment fund. Programs will be funded from donations and the interest earned on the endowment fund.
I have been to several of these events and let me tell you, it is truly a wonderful experience and an honor to attend! Many sponsors will attend the event to make donations to the foundation for the purpose of promoting student development and excellence through enrichment programs and activities. . There are silent auctions, as well as an entertaining auctioinare to entice bidding on wonderful items donated by donors! There will be games, good food, lots of good looking great dressed folks and good, good music!
Searching for a Star Foundation also an 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has been in existence for 5 years; we have been invited to sing at many events throughout cities in North Texas over the years, but none as prestigious as the invite to sing at Boots & BBQ! SFAS singers will play a role in the entertainment at the event! Some of our 2011 stars will take the stage to perform the National Anthem as a group and will sing a medley of songs in a separate appearance that night; exposure like this does not come often, so needless-to-say I am excited for our performers!
There is room for only a few of our stars to perform at this event, but there will be other events to sing at in the future. Just remember that you have to be ready when the opportunity arrives….Keep singing!
If you are a parent or young performer get to know what Searching for a Star is all about; we are serious about using the stage and singing to build our children’s self esteem. SFAS a worthy program to be associated with.
Another Event on the horizon – the City of Murphy Chamber of Commerce has requested that our singers perform at an event at the shopping center on Hwy. 544 in Murphy. This should be a really fun performance will lots of exposure for those chosen to perform. If you are interested in singing you need to contact us as soon as possible, we will hold an audition for singers. This will be a great opportunity for some of you so don’t miss it.
