The Competition Begins!

The Searching for a star stage course is now over; the competition is ready to begin!  What a wonderful time I have had seeing our student/ performers grow over the past eight weeks.

We began the SFAS Stage Course on March 26,  with 33 potential performers. Those that started soon found out that this course is unlike any conventional stage course. The past 8 weeks have proven to  be very challenging , so much so that at the end of the course only 23  of the original 33 performers remain!

Like any video game, this stage course demands that you climb from level to level to satisfy the need to get better end better.  As the critiques come  each week, our performers have learned to take what is said and apply it; therefore each week they perform better!   The  SFAS Course uses a concept of bonding  parent and child together as a team. The intended goal of the team is to create a singer and stage performer of the child.

The 23 stars that finished the stage course  are on their way to experiencing  great growth in confidence, self esteem and an awareness of the importance of relying on and working with a team.  This course has set them on the path to becoming a true  ”stage performer” .  I am very proud of those that have completed the course; it is almost  time to reap the benefits!  When each you stand on the stage at the finals  May 28th to receive your medals, I will introduce you to yourrelative, your  frends and neigbors  as the Searching for a star “23″ of 2010!  You all have earned that title.

                                                                                THE COMPETITION BEGINS!

To the “23″  and your teams…  During the past eight weeks you have performed on  the live stage 5 times, you have participated in your group drama class, you have experienced a talk show type information seminar and have had the experience of performing in your first public venue.  Our special thanks Taylor Beckham (SFAS winner 2008), and D’Moreya Woods (SFAS winner 2009) and their  Moms and Dads. Also a special thanks to former CBS channel 11 news anchor, writer and film producer,Maria Arita Howard  for her participation in our talk show seminar workshop.

Remember the cheers from the crowd at Ballad Street Cafe & Grill in Wylie?  You earned those cheers enjoy!   There is one more public show that you should participate in to secure your readiness.  May 13, 2010,  the public is looking to experience at the Wylie Opry, what the public heard at the Ballard Street Cafe!  You guys are the talk of the town because of that performance, and just think, you are creating your own fan club!  This coming Thursday my desire is that you continue to  show your audience how well you sing .

On Friday, May 14th you will put into practice all that you have learned in this course.  The category is: Country Hits 1980 – 1990 or Songs of inspiration or faith;  your objective…to get to the next round.  If you all perform like I know that you can,  we will fill the auditorium at the finals on May 28th!

Notice to the public…come out to see what your cities and towns have to offer in these “23″ 2010 Searching for a Star Performers!
